Correlative Conjunctions คือ คำเชื่อมที่เป็นคู่ ๆ โดยมีใจความเท่าเทียมกัน เมื่อเชื่อมกันประธานจะใช้กริยาเป็นเอกพจน์หรือพหูพจน์ ให้ถือเอาประธานตัวหน้าเป็นหลัก คำเชื่อมของ correlative conjunctions ได้แก่
either…….or ไม่……ก็…….(อย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง)
neither……nor ไม่ทั้ง………(ไม่ทั้งสองอย่าง)both…….and….. ทั้ง……และ……….
not only……but also ไม่เพียงแต่……อีกด้วย
whether……or ไม่ว่า………หรือไม่
ตัวอย่างเช่น
Neither Sombun nor Somsri had attended the class.
ทั้งสมบูรณ์และสมศรีไม่เข้าชั้นเรียนทั้งสองคน
You can drink either milk or tea.
คุณจะดื่มนมหรือไม่ก็น้ำชาก็ได้
She is not only clever, but also honest.
เธอไม่เพียงแต่ฉลาดเท่านั้นยังซื่อสัตย์อีกด้วย
